PLAYMATE or HELPMATE: What type of Partner are you?

"YOU ATTRACT PEOPLE WITH YOUR DOMINANT THOUGHTS"

I debated with a Friend about this. While I agree with the "Laws of Attraction", I stand firm in my beliefs of detouring it. After careful thought, I wanted to expand my knowledge on this and decided to investigate some.

In most relationships, all efforts are put forth in the beginning. You work hard to impress, engage and capitalize off every moment spent together. Most people often refer to this as the “Honeymoon” stage. To me, it’s considered the evolution of the “Playmate”. A playmate is unsure of the love they want to have. They often get nervous about serious commitment because of their uncertainty. They desire freedom and minimal restrictions.  Now, some playmates are destined to be just that. Male and female chemistry is often heightened by physical desires and needs.

We get so caught up in that aspect that we forget about the other components of a relationship. This does not make them a bad person at all. They just haven’t been blessed with discernment for love yet. Everyone begins as a playmate. Everyone enjoys being a playmate, until they evolve.

“Helpmates” desire a strong partnership. They much rather build foundations, then live off distorted, yet exciting memories. Helpmates look to be a compliment to their partner oppose to an addition.

Did you catch that?

A balance consumes them, and they no longer have the desire to be flaunted, over being respected. Helpmates encourage other people to be helpmates as well. They are excited behind the idea of growth in partnership. Now, let me make this clear, a helpmate is not only giving help, but they are receiving it as well. A strong union requires 2 helpmates, who actively seek the constant uplifting and evolution of the union. It is not one sided.

So ask yourself, if you are currently looking for love, what type of mate would you like to be? If you are currently in a relationship, what type of mate are you? Answer this honestly and be proud of your choices.

In this current generation, many of us have a hard time drawing the line between the two or understanding the difference. While I’m not encouraging everyone to be playmates, I understand some people are just better at being that. The World as it relates to love, would be so much easier, if people could easily identify with the type of mate they are, and humbly acknowledge it. This way the pairing wouldn’t be so chaotic and destructive.

Will you remain a playmate forever? NO! you always evolve. Heck even some helpmates resort back, but acknowledging and accepting the truth about who you are, is key. Without getting too spiritual,  I’ll leave you with a few Bible verses that resonate with meas it relates to love. While I’m sure there are more, these definitely stand out.

Genesis 2:18

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."

Genesis 2:22

And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

1 Corinthians 11:8-9

For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.

Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.

Ecclesiastes 4:11-12

Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
